English & Cultural Study Tour to Singapore
115students and 12 teachers from St. Teresa Secondary School went on an English & Cultural Study Tour to Singapore from 27th– 30th March, 2013. Participants visited tourist and cultural attractions like Merlion Park, Clarke Quay, Little India, Kampong Gelam and Chinatown, where they were able to enjoy the sights and sounds of Singapore as well as learn about the history of those places.
There was also an opportunity to find out more about Singapore’s education system through a visit to the Anglo-Chinese School, a local international school and The Singapore Institute of Management, a higher education establishment. Students practised their English by interviewing students there.
In addition, students and teachers learnt more about the city state’s rapid development since independence through visits to the Marina Barrage, Land Transport Gallery, NEWater Visitor Centre and Singapore City Gallery.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the tourand found it extrememly rewarding because of the opportunity totravel to new places, to improve their English language skills, to mature and become more independent, and toobserve and experience things directly.
